Then on January 31st, there is the Chowder Festival, where over 30 chowder chefs compete in a culinary cook-off of magnitude proportions! The Mardi Gras parade and party will follow on Fat Tuesday with great Mardi Gras-themed food and music, and prizes will be awarded for best float, parade marchers and vehicles. More than 250 artisans and crafters, food vendors, live musicians, a stilt walker, face painter and balloon artist will all attend the NSB Art Fiesta February 18-19 at Old Fort Park on Julia Street. Then get ready for a spectacular four-day blues festival in May! Soulful sounds flow through the streets while revelers enjoy scores of bands in multiple locations throughout town.
